The process of monitoring online conversations and collecting data from different social media networks is called social media listening. The best approach? The last few years have shown us the value of connecting with consumers in a holistic way especially when in-person efforts and marketing plans aren’t possible. Metaverse platforms give that ‘physical world feel’ from afar and allows their customers to be whomever they want to be in that space. Brands specifically are able to bridge existing gaps between themselves and daily active users.
The metaverse was featured all the way back in the 1992 novel “Snow Crash,” by Neal Stephenson. It also appeared in the novel and Steven Spielberg’s movie “Ready Player One” set in 2045.
Aside from Hollywood, no tech leader has entwined the metaverse so closely with its corporate branding as Mark Zuckerberg and Meta. In July 2021, Zuckerberg hinted at the change on Facebook. Today Zuckerberg says the metaverse is the successor to the mobile web.
The term ‘metaverse’ was first coined in 1993 by American author Neal Stephenson in his science fiction novel ‘Snow Crash.’ The metaverse was described to be a set of virtual spaces where you can create and explore with other people who aren’t in the same physical space as you. Instead, users are in a virtual space where they can do everything they can do in reality, such as going for a walk, listening to music, playing video games, visiting NFT museums, and much more.

We witnessed another big change on the platform in September of 2020, when the 17-year old company introduced Facebook Business Suite to its rolodex of services. The announcement took place while most of the world stayed indoors and connected online at an explosive rate, so we were certainly paying attention.
