What better way to kick-off 2016 than with a launch of a new social media network?

Peach, created by Vine co-founder Dom Hoffman, is taking the internet by storm with his newest messaging app. Launched at the beginning of January, Peach has already reached the top 10 Social Networking apps in the App Store.

So, what is Peach exactly?

Peach is described as a refreshingly fun and simple way to keep up with friends and be yourself. Similar to Facebook, Twitter and Tumbler, users can easily share pictures, looping photos, videos, and links, along with GIFs, the weather, your current location, what you’re watching tonight, how many steps you walked today, and much more.

How does it work?

The messaging app works by showing a feed of your friends in a list, almost like a text-messaging app. You can type what Peach calls “magic words”, similar to text shortcuts, to launch a few different actions. If you type “shout”, peach will post your update using big words, typing “weather” will add the weather to your update, or “draw” unlocks a sketchpad so you can use your finger to share a quick doodle. In total, there are more than 20 magic words that help add personality to posts.

In addition to magic words, Peach allows users to communicate with friends without actually saying anything. Much like the long forgotten about “poke” feature on Facebook, Peach users can wave, boop, quarantine, put a ring on, hiss, wave, blow a kiss, 100 and and even give a virtual cake to friends.

Ready to try is out?

Currently Peach is only available for iOS and it’s free! Don’t worry, the Android version is in the works. To get started, download the app, pick a username, enter your phone number to find friends and start sharing content.

We should expect many improvements and updates to the social network in the coming weeks. To learn about the app in more detail, click here.
